
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements: The synergism and cohesion among service delivery, teaching and research leads to changes in classroom practice as knowledge increases, 'best practices' are identified, and service needs are recognised within the centre and across mainstream schools. The West Coast LCD is a centre of excellence that provides specialist early direct intervention (for students), outreach (for schools and networks) and research and development services in the area of speech, language and associated literacy. Staff are highly collaborative with many involved in the development of innovative programs. The centre is highly innovative and utilises and drives research into what works best for students. The service also has an outreach program that works across mainstream schools. The centre has an intensive, early intervention student program for children from K to Year 1. The West Coast LDC is a specialist facility that caters for students with identified language disorders. In this position you will be expected to provide services within the North Metro and Midwest Educational regions, which may involve a significant amount of travel. Applicants also need to be analytical and demonstrate the ability to interpret data that is then linked to suggested intervention.

Applicants need to have highly developed oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present professional learning to groups. The role is about capacity building and this involves mentoring and modelling at the individual through to group level. The applicant needs to demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team as well as have highly developed independent skills. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing consultancy and professional learning in the area of speech, language and early literacy development, supporting policy and procedures for the identification, referral and educational planning for students with speech and language needs.
